PRESENT

 The objective of this part of the project is to provide a thorough analysis of the main forces affecting the religious composition of the Viennese population in the recent past (since the 1980s), looking especially at:

  • The demographic behaviour of the different religious groups in terms of differential fertility, mortality, and migration;
  • The quantitative changes in the rates of secularization along age and cohort lines and the transmission of religion from parents to children;
  • The qualitative changes in the meaning of religion and the intensity of different religion, and;
  • The spread and the distribution of the different religions at district (and possibly sub-district) level
